The Mohonk Preserve
This world-famous climbing destination spans 7,000 acres of cliffs, forests, streams, and ponds. Home of “The Trapps,” the best technical climbing area in the Northeast, the preserve offers 30 miles of carriage roads and 40 miles of hiking trails.
Sundown Wild Forest
The 29,000-acre Sundown Wild Forest—including the former Lundy Estate—offers miles of scenic trails, fishing streams, camping areas, and prime hunting terrain. This ecologically diverse region ranges from deep forest bottomlands to rocky ridges with wind-shaped Pitch Pine forests.
Sam’s Point Preserve
Perched on the highest point of the Shawangunk Ridge, Sam’s Point contains one of the world’s best examples of ridgetop dwarf pine barrens. The preserve features ice caves, cliffs, summits, and rare plant and animal species across this extraordinary landscape.
